A very stupid and childish act by the Chief Minister Of Melaka. Why have an election if the ruling party only wants to win i.e wants the people to vote BN only. Where is the option, the democracy in this country !. Just does not make sense and in this era , we still have such a leader !. God bless this Melaka and the country !The Malacca CM has got shit between his ears!-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Have you been to Malacca Jonker Street? Instead of closing it down, why not make the place moreinteresting with cultural shows?AFTER GE13, UTUSAN CALLED FOR THE PUNISHMENT OF THE CHINESE FOR TURNING AWAY FROM BARISAN NASIONAL.In Malacca, Chief Minister Idris Haron closes down Jonker walk to punish the Chinese for turning away from MCA.Don't you think this was a stupid and arrogant move by UMNO or BN. ? It's a shame for such small brained thinking of the UMNO goons !Kwong Wah Daily quoted Idris as saying, “Now, we see most of the Malacca residents fully supportingover MCA candidates, who have been serving them. Hence, we decided to the night market and we hope they will be happy.”He admitted that MCA’s electoral defeat in the state prompted the closure of Jonker Walk.Opposition: Closure of Jonker Walk is political retaliation
The Malacca government's decision to shut down the historic city's popular weekend night market, Jonker Walk, has been described as "political retaliation against Chinese voters" who backed the opposition in the May 5 general election.
The DAP's Kesidang assemblyperson Chin Choong Seong questioned the justification given by Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron that the decision was made after MCA's abysmal showing in GE13.
"Obviously this is an undemocratic retaliation by the BN against the Chinese community, by creating fear. Such shameful act will not achieve its objective. Instead, it will alienate the people more," Chin said in a statement issued today.
According to Kwong Wah Daily, Idris yesterday argued that the decision passed by the Malacca executive council on June 12 to close the night market, which has been attracting tourists for 13 years, "follows the intention of the people".
Idris reminded that it was DAP that protested against the state government's decision to cordon off Jonker Street from road users, to make way for the night market, when the idea was first mooted.
That time, he said, the DAP slammed the state government for sacrificing the interests of road users to benefit only some 200 hawkers.
Idris: We hope the people will be happy
"Now, we see most of the Malacca residents fully supporting DAP over MCA candidates, who have been serving them.Hence, we decided to cancel the night market and we hope they will be happy," the daily quotes Idris as saying.
He admitted that MCA's electoral defeat in the state prompted the closure of Jonker Walk.
Although Jonker Walk has become a popular tourist attraction in the state, Idris said he was not worried about impact of the closure as there were other tourist destinations in Malacca.
The closure prompted some 100 hawkers to stage a protest rally at Jonker Street last night.
Armed with posters and shouting slogans against the closure, the angry hawkers marched a short distance through the street.
They also said they would set up their stalls and proceed with their businesses on Friday, despite the state governmentdirective to close the night market.
The whole street along Jonker Walk is closed for traffic and turns into a lively night market on weekends.
Various kinds of stalls set up at both sides of the street.
According to the my girlfriend who is a local Malaccan, this is the "fake" chicken rice ball restaurant!
The entrance to the Hokkien Association, which is always very lau juak with their karaoke session singing old Hokkien songs lol!
It is one of the aktiviti malam (night activity) among the old folks. I am pretty sure they love it a lot becauseit was full house and I couldn't spot an empty chair there haha!
Besides being a popular spot for its cultural attractions and unique building architectures, Jonker Streetalso offers delicious food and local delicacies as well. Being day or night, Jonker Walk is full of a numberof shops and cafés selling a wide range of foods and beverages.
One of the well-known café would be the Geographer Cafe, located at the middle of the street. This café isespecially known among the foreign visitors, for its happening live bands on Friday and weekend nights thatprovides a marvelous experience for its customers. This café has been used as a shooting location for several film, commercial and documentary since it was opened for business in 2000.
Our main intention going to Jonker Street that night was to get our bowl of cendol. Here in Malacca, the cendol is served in a slightly different style from other places; they call it durian cendol.
So, what makes the Malaccan cendol special? They are the extra ingredients used in the cendol, namely thedurian flesh and instead of brown sugar, gula Melaka is used in replacement. It might not sound tempting forpeople who doesn't like durian. However, I am sure most of us are durian lovers and if you happen to visitMalacca, make sure you don't miss out on this delicacy.
Michelle prefers to get the durian cendol from this shop - Bibik House which is just opposite the permanent stage.
The smell of durian and the savoury gula Melaka makes this bowl of durian cendol looks really tempting.
During the Chinese New Year season, Jonker Street will be beautifully decorated with cultural colors, and if you are in the right time, there is an amazing scene of lion dance performance by tens to hundredof troops might also be caught in sight.
For all the unique features it has to offer, sad to say that Jonker Walk is still very much dominated byChinese traders to date. Excluding the foreigners, most of the local visitors are Chinese. The objectiveof reflecting a multi-racial cultural attributes is yet to be significantly realised and I guess it would be muchbetter if there are more efforts to promote the culture of other ethnics as well in Jonker Walk.wanna have some otak-otak, no matter where it originated.Jonker Walk closed down? Ok lah no more Melaka trip. We go Penang Georgetown instead.Wanna try closing that down too? UMNO is going to let our country bankrupt....no more visitors/tourists !
Evil exists because good people do nothing. Let's begin with you and me. ARISE and take ACTIONS!

KM: 300 peniaga Jonker Walk boleh berniaga seperti biasa
- The issue of Melaka CM opening of the road at Jongka Street during weekends has caught national attention. We in Melaka are working very hard to reverse it.Tomorrow Friday June 285.00pm we are going to have the Signature campaign at Jongka Street.Lim Kit Siang, Tony Pua and many others will be here too.We hope all Rakyat will come to put pressure on this Umno minority Government .

The tensions with minorities in Russia:
Putin's speech
Listen to the Russians-they know what is happening to America, England, France....
This is a must read . . .
On February 4th, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:
"In Russia live Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law. Russia does not need minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'. We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of most minorities. When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the national interest first, observing that the minorities are not Russians.
The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a standing ovation for five minutes.
If you keep this to yourself, you are the problem...

Prosecution rushes to 'help' Najib? No need for aide to testify in Altantuya case
The prosecution in the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder conviction appeal argued in court today that there was nothing to link then deputy prime minister Najib Abdul Razak to the death of the Mongolian woman.
This is because the first accused, Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, had admitted in his defence testimony that "what he did was on his own", deputy solicitor-general III Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah told the Court of Appeal.
Tun Abdul Majid , the number five in the Attorney-General’s Chambers, admitted that political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, who was acquitted of abetting in the murder, knew Najib.
He also said that DSP Musa Safri was Najib's aide de camp (ADC).
"Just because Abdul Razak knew the then DPM and Musa, and the ADC worked with the DPM, you cannot attribute everything to the DPM.
"There is nothing to link the then-DPM to what Abdul Razak allegedly did, There is no imaginary evidence (showing this)," Tun Abdul Majid said in his submissions.
He was responding to submissions from lawyers for Azilah and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, members of the Special Action Unit of the police force who are seeking acquittal.
Azilah and Sirul Azhar were sentenced to death for murdering the 28-year-old Mongolian at a forest in Puncak Alam, near Shah Alam, between 10pm on Oct 19 and 1am on Oct 20, 2006.
Abdul Razak had sought Musa's help after Altantuya had tried to barge into the political analyst's home in Bukit Damansara several days before her murder.
Following that, Musa sent Azilah to Abdul Razak the next day, and the two met at Abdul Razak’s office.
There was no mention during the trial, or in today’s proceedings, about the purchase of two Scorpene submarines, a deal in which Altantuya is said to have acted as a translator for Abdul Razak’s Perimekar Sdn Bhd.
Yesterday, lawyers for Sirul had said the non-calling of Musa constituted a dent on the case against their client as it amounted to a mistrial.
This followed the Shah Alam High Court having accepted Abdul Razak’s affidavit and had not given the defence lawyers an opportunity to challenge the veracity of the political analyst’s reference to Musa in the affidavit.
Subsequently, the unchallenged affidavit resulted in the political analyst’s acquittal without his defence being called.
‘No need for Musa to testify’
Tun Abdul Majid said there is no purpose in calling Musa as a witness as it was only Azilah who met Abdul Razak at the latter’s office.
“Furthermore, Azilah had admitted in his defence that what he did was on his own (discretion) or his own budi bicara.”
“How would Musa be of significance? Hence, it is not necessary for Musa to testify,” he said.
The deputy solicitor-general III also asked why the prosecution should call Musa to test Abdul Razak’s credibility over what he had stated in the affidavit.
“He (Abdul Razak) is an accused person. Why should we apply to call Musa (left) to save Abdul Razak’s credibility as he is an accused person?”
“Furthermore, there is testimony from the first witness, P Balasubramaniam, that Azilah and Sirul were the last persons seen with Altantuya on that fateful day when the private investigator handed her over to them (at Abdul Razak’s house),” he said.
For the prosecution, Tun Abdul Majid said, he does not see how this could lead to a gap in the prosecution’s case as alleged by the defence, since all witnesses had been called to testify on what actually happened.
When it was pointed out by the three-member bench that there was evidence of text messages sent and calls made by Abdul Razak to Musa and the defence did not know whether Musa had replied, Tun Majid said it was not necessary as it was not useful evidence.
‘Accused could have kept explosives’
On the issue of the explosives used to detonate Altantuya’s remains, Tun Abdul Majid said there was no evidence on the type of explosives used.
However, there was evidence that the two accused were trained in various explosives as this had been exposed to them during their training.
“Their superior, Assistant Commissioner Mastor Mohd Ariff, testified that they had undergone training with explosives and know how to handle them.
“There is a possibility, as one of the police witnesses had testified, that the two may have kept the unused explosives as they were not returned,” he said.
The submissions by the prosecution and defence ended today.
Justice Md Apandi Ali, who heads the three-member bench, deferred judgment to a date to be fixed.

Smoke gets in our eyes: A way out
The answers to any environment crisis are largely in the hands of those engaged in exploiting the environment or of the policy makers. Incompetent governments, irresponsible businesses, an apathetic public only aroused when their throat is literally being choked and not before then — this is where we stand in our attitude to air pollution management. Unfortunately, it is the same with the way in which we are managing all our other resources.

The Opposition’s new mandate
Pakatan Rakyat will continue to push for legislative reform in Parliament, as we have done since Malaysians gave us their mandate. The opposition mandate is to stay vigilant, alert and efficient, even as it is confronting a set of legal electoral challenges. Failure is not an option in the face of an increasingly hawkish and change-resistant minority government of Barisan National.

Call on Najib to put his War on Crime as top Cabinet agenda on Wednesday to ensure the police are not totally helpless in the latest rampage by criminals, including new-fangled mass armed robbery of owners/customers of restaurants and eateries
The headlines given by the BN-owned/controlled media, like “Criminals beware: Its War”and “All-out fight against crime” (Sunday Star 9.6.2013) turned into ashes when it was the criminals who declared war last weekend starting with a group of about 10 parang-wielding men in crash helmets who held up the owner and several customers who were having early-morning supper at Simmei Seafood and Steamboat restaurant at Taman Taynton View in Cheras and got away with RM20,000 in cash and valuables.

This is our land - Nazri tells Chin Woo
This is a small piece the school had occupied and used for a long long time.
Nazri who just assumed his Tourism Minister post suddenly announced that the piece of land belongs to the Government.
What about the school. Does the Government view the school belonging to them or someone else?
Will Nazri says the same thing if the school is a Malay school?
Is Nazri a minister of all people or for Umno/BN only?
there no other land he can use? Why is he doing what he is doing? Trying to be a hero for Umno/BN?
The undoing of Paul Low, the Minister at the PM's Office
Zahid should take leave as Home Minister until two cases causing major embarrassment to the BN government had been settled
It is strange that Zahid is not called up to answer the wrong he had done. If member of the opposition had done something similar, the police will be very efficient.
It is this sort of double standard in Malaysia that people loathe.
The law must be applied equally to all. Not only that, it must be seen to be done especially when a minister is found to have done wrong.

Paul Low, where is your conscience?
We appeal to the conscience of Datuk Paul Low who has often spoken up without fear or favour on issues of transparency and accountability in the past, to be the conscience in the BN cabinet. While he was a former MCA member, today he does not belong to any political party and he is not beholden to anyone but his own moral sense of right and wrong.
